Help and Information for Tennessee Taxpayers

Tennessee Taxpayers Association (“TTA”) is a non-profit non-partisan taxpayers organization established to act as taxpayer advocates. Our goal is to help our taxpayers preserve and achieve equity and fairness in taxation issues. This is our mission, at both the State and local levels.
State and local governmental resources overwhelm the taxpayers. These resources include spending our tax dollars each year on lobbyists, both in-house and hired outside professionals.
These governments, and often just single officers, file bills and other instruments which harm taxpayers by increasing taxes or deleting their rights to protest taxes. In addition, they often implement difficult procedures so that ordinary taxpayers cannot protect their interests in filing and/or protesting taxes of all types. Many of these legislative tax changes are made without opposition.
Therefore, without a cohesive effort through combined taxpayers, the taxpayers’ voices are not heard in important forums which include the Legislature, our courts, and controlling boards and agencies. In order to prevent regressive and unfair taxation laws and tactics, the taxpayers must be represented through coordinated efforts.
As a member of TTA, you or your company will receive bulletins and up to date information on taxation issues. Members of TTA can actually participate in efforts to change laws, rules and policies affecting taxpayers. It’s a terrific feeling when you realize that you really did make a difference in the outcome of an effort to diminish your rights.
We encourage you to be active in the taxing process in Tennessee. TTA is here to help you.
